2022 Annual Meeting + Simons Awards

Join us for a special, double celebration as we conduct our annual meeting and honor two recipients of the Leonard N. Simons History-Maker Award: Arthur M. Horwitz (2021) and Harriet B. Saperstein (2022).  This event is free to all, but please register.  Sponsorship opportunities are available.  Sponsors will be recognized in print matter and at the annual meeting.  Kosher refreshments will be served.  This event will be outside in a covered area.

ABOUT THE AWARDEES

Arthur M. Horwitz is president of Arthur Horwitz Consulting, LLC. From 1986 to 2020, he published the Detroit Jewish News. He was the founding president of the independent, non-profit Detroit Jewish News Foundation, which acquired the Jewish News in 2020. Under his leadership, the Jewish News became one of the largest and most respected ethnic/ minority-focused media outlets in the United States.

Harriet B. Saperstein is a sociologist turned planner, specializing in community and economic development. She has held senior positions with the City of Detroit, where she coordinated and facilitated numerous major projects in neighborhoods, on Belle Isle, and along the Detroit Riverfront. She has also served as president of HP Devco, a non-profit economic development agency focused on Highland Park.
