Join us as we honor, at long last, our 2020 Leonard N. Simons History-Maker Award Winner, Feiga Weiss. Longtime librarian at the Holocaust Memorial Center, Feiga Weiss directs its oral-history department, which records and preserves the testimonies of survivors. The award ceremony will be followed by Weiss's presentation of cherished artifacts from the HMC's collections.
Established in 1991, the Leonard N. Simons History-Maker Award honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the enrichment, conservation, knowledge, and dissemination of Michigan Jewish history. Recipients have fulfilled one or more of the following accomplishments:
exceptional involvement in the retrieval, preservation, and/or distribution of Michigan Jewish history
instrumental leadership in fostering bridge-building or groundbreaking connections between the Jewish and larger communities that do or will have historical significance
extraordinary direction of a program of major significance or far-reaching impact to the Michigan Jewish community
passionate embodiment of an agenda reflecting the totality, depth, or breadth of the Michigan Jewish community
