Please join us to hear New York Times-lauded and award-winning author and esteemed historian Professor David Nasaw discuss his latest book, The Last Million: Europe's Displaced Persons from World War to Cold War (Penguin Press: 2020). World War II ended in May 1945, but its aftershocks were felt by Europe's population - and the world - for much longer. Europe's displaced persons were left with no home, as the international community struggled with the question of their resettlement amidst the backdrop of the newly accelerating Cold War. Professor Nasaw illuminates the story of this last million, with contemporary resonance and the illumination of history.
Although it is not required, we encourage you to read this book before the presentation.
