Settlers to Citizens: Exploring Historic Jewish Detroit 2015

Join JHSM and relive a little bit of Detroit’s Jewish history. Our trip will take us back in time as we visit some of Detroit’s old Jewish neighborhoods and historically significant landmarks and institutions. Together we’ll explore the history of these neighborhoods to gain an appreciation of how early Jewish Detroiters were able to thrive in what was for them a strange and unfamiliar land. Along our journey, we will also see the work of today’s urban entrepreneurs who are creating a new and reinvigorated Detroit. Designed to educate and inspire, our route includes Detroit’s riverfront, Belle Isle, Brush Park, the Boston-Edison district and Northwest Detroit.
