Support the Project

This free website will enable visitors to explore myriad stories and biographies and allow for the preservation of these stories for generations. JHSM is the only Jewish organization in Michigan dedicated to the collection and preservation of these priceless stories.

JHSM has already chronicled and preserved the stories of some 175 Jewish women whose legacies have contributed to this great state. We are very pleased to announce a matching gift campaign from Jeannie Weiner, JHSM Vice President and chairperson of the MWWMD project. Her husband, Gershon Weiner, of blessed memory, enjoyed history, was proud of his Michigan roots, and had an interest in the preservation of the legacies of Jews who contributed to the state. That is why, in his memory, Jeannie has pledged these funds to enable the launch of the online archives.

Community Workshops

To help communities get started identifying and researching the stories of their own foremothers, JHSM is sponsoring a series of workshops throughout Michigan. Workshops can have anywhere between five and thirty participants and can be organized by a geographic, institutional, or organizational community, e.g., Lansing, synagogue, Hadassah. There is no charge to attend or host a workshop, and JHSM will help with all of the planning. All we need from you is a date and a location.
