Rudy Simons and Michigan’s Great Jewish Songwriters, 1920s-1960s

Join Evelyn Orback, former Jewish Ensemble Theater director and the JHSM for a wonderful morning of music and melody.

“All of me, why not take all of me…” Sing along and hear the story of the American composer and musician Seymour Simons, who wrote this lasting lyrical song and was popular Detroit-area orchestra leader, radio producer and band leader.  His son Rudy will share insight on his father’s life and accomplishments along with those of other notable musicians of the era including Jay Gorney (Abraham Gornetsky), Bernie Katz, Gerald Marks and Larry Rosenthal.  Musical accompaniment by pianist Jon Milan.  Presented in conjunction with the JCC Stephen Gottlieb Festival of the Arts and co-sponsored by the JCC Meyers Library, the JCC Arts, Culture and Education Dept., and the West Bloomfield Library.  RSVP to info@michjewishhistory.org or 248-432-5517.

  • Reaches out to make connections with Jewish communities throughout the state as well as with other historical organizations and museums
