Many of Detroit’s finest buildings designed in the post-World War I and I eras of expansion and great architecture were designed by Charles Agree, a prolific Detroit architect who gained national prominence in the mid-1900s. Greg Piazza, historian and expert on Charles Agree’s life and architecture will lead this tour, which will include visits to many of Mr. Agree’s masterpieces including hotels, theaters, dance ballrooms, apartment buildings, shopping malls and major retail stores.
Our tour will include explorations of such buildings as the Grande Ballroom, the Vanity Theater and the Whittier Hotel*. A kosher lunch will be served at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue.
*Our team is continuing to plan the details of this tour. Unfortunately, many of Mr. Agree’s buildings are not safe to enter but we will drive by them. Our tour will go as planned, rain or shine. Please wear flat, comfortable shoes. There are no refunds.
