The JHSM is pleased to present a debut tour at the Detroit Institute of Arts: Jewish Art and Donors
Sunday, March 13, 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon (coffee will be served at 10 a.m. Dining Room B)

Working together with the Detroit Institute of Arts, the JHSM is pleased to announce this first-time event: a peek at some of the museum's finest pieces, with a focus on pieces donated by Jewish Michiganders such as Gil & Lila Silverman and Jack & Aviva Robinson. Following the tour, join us for discussion and lunch (at your own cost) in Dining Room B. Tour cost includes museum admission for the entire day, so plan to stay and enjoy this Detroit gem. Celebrating 90 Years of Community and Resilience at the Downtown Synagogue Making Minyan: 90 Years in Detroit

The Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue celebrates its 90th anniversary and the JHSM is proud to be a participating partner in this event. Come spend an afternoon of collective storytelling, showcasing the richness and resilience of Jewish Detroit. Location tbd, light refreshments will be served.

The JCC Steven Gottlieb Music Festival: Annual Michigan Board of Cantors Concert: A Tribute to "A Night on the Town in Old Detroit"

The week-long, seventh annual JCC Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival culminates on the evening of April 3, with an eclectic mix of music featuring 12 cantors from area congregations. Don't miss this extraordinary evening of music and fun. Co-sponsored by the JHSM.

Back by popular demand, four houses of worship are visited, showcasing how Jewish and Christian symbols and art have been blended to honor both religious traditions. Jewish History Detectives Lecture SeriesAuthor Talk and Book Signing: The Sweetness of Freedom: Stories of Immigrants

Local resident Benno Levi shares his story of emigration and triumph in the 2011 Michigan Notable Book Award book, The Sweetness of Freedom. Edited by historian Stephen Ostrander and Martha Bloomfield, curator of the Michigan Historical Museum's 2005 exhibit 'Movers and Seekers: Michigan Immigrants and Migrants,' the authors will speak of their experiences and autograph books.
